Two weeks ago a colleague who's on the board of Junior Achievement with me sent an email suggesting a couple of new blog posts. This email made me think about my blog and whether it's the best it can be. Fact was I hadn't refreshed it in months. That meant it needed an update.
Typepad's always offering up new widgets and other features to spiff up your blog. I appreciate that. I'd also heard about Wibiya as a way of adding something new to a website or blog and wanted to check that out.
So, I stayed up late on Saturday and went for it. Here's what I did: added a Recent Posts section, added a Page on my services, added FeedBlitz so people can subscribe to the blog with their email address, moved my About link, and added a Wibiya bar.
The Wibiya bar alone allows visitors to see my Twitter stream, become a fan of my Facebook page, start up a chat, see recent posts in a cool window, search my blog, and create a Facebook community right there. I think this is stupendous (haven't used that word for a while).
This is a significant refresh that takes my blog to a new level of service to my readers! I'm proud of that. I look at it now and think it's much improved. I'm ready to add more Pages soon, which will make it even better as I deeply consider making it a full-blown blogsite.
So, here's my challenge as a business coach to you: Look at your website and blog (if you have one) and ask yourself, "Does it need a refresh?" If your gut is screaming, "YES!", then think about what you could do and seize the day. Get to it. Don't put it off. Your audience deserves it and so do you.
Let me know what you think of what I've done to my blog. Let me know what you're going to do to your website or blog. I'd love to hear about it.
